About the Trust

An Exciting Odyssey of 80+ Years

It began in 1946, when Late Sri B. M. Sreenivasaiah founded India's first private engineering college. Today the B. M. Sreenivasaiah Educational Trust is a family of 11 institutions that have shaped generations of learners in Bengaluru and far beyond.

Founded by a visionary philanthropist and nurtured by his son, Late Sri B. S. Narayan, the Trust has always looked ahead: from the country's first private engineering college to newer institutions in architecture, management, commerce and professional courses.

Since 1979 the Trust's International Cooperation Division has opened its doors to the world, and its partnership with the Melton Foundation, USA, has brought students from the USA, Germany, Chile, China and Ghana to learn alongside ours.

The Trust's institutions span engineering, science, architecture, management, arts, commerce and law. With around 17,000 students and an alumni family of over 1 lakh, you become part of a thriving community.

Be part of a legacy of excellence, innovation and global impact with the BMS Educational Trust.

Founder, B.M.S. Educational Trust

In the history of Karnataka, the name of Late Businayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah (BMS) occupies a prominent place in the field of Philanthropy. The Maharaja of Mysore honored him with the title of Raja Karya Prasaktha in 1946. He started the B.M.S. College of Engineering in the same year. He had foreseen the urgent need for high quality technical education in India, even before independence.

The ideals for which Sri. B. M. Sreenivasaiah stood, continued to inspire the inheritors of his legacy.

After the demise of “Sri B.M.Sreenivasaiah”, his dynamic and enterprising son Sri. B. S. Narayan, took over the reins of the college. The institution grew from strength-to-strength under his able guidance.

He was also instrumental in initiating international collaborative programmes such as training foreign students under International Co-operation Division (ICD) and cross cultural programs with Melton Foundation.
